Co-design for XR

Project
In the rapidly evolving space of extended reality (XR) and the metaverse, emerging technologies are utilizing an array of novel data types to enable never-before-seen capabilities. TTC Labs wanted to explore the potential of this technology for creating more immersive and engaging experiences. They also raise important questions around the use of personal data to power these experiences, as well as the role of trust, transparency and control in XR products.

To help participants better understand the future possibilities of the metaverse and XR design, Craig Walker developed a range of new tools, frameworks and XR prototyping techniques.

In utilizing these techniques, participants were encouraged to move beyond 2D screen-based thinking to develop immersive and embodied XR solutions.

The particular qualities of metaverse experiences - depth and perspective, real time interactions, multiple users - demand a new approach to prototyping.
We developed a series of VR scenarios to demonstrate how body-based data could be used in different contexts.
A series of data cards and scenarios enabled participants to form a shared understanding of data processing in XR.
